San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has signed a five-year, $265 million contract extension, including $181 million guaranteed, securing his position with the team through the 2030 season.
Purdy, 25, became eligible for an extension following his third NFL season. Drafted as the final pick in 2022—earning the nickname “Mr. Irrelevant”—Purdy defied expectations by emerging as a standout starter. He led the 49ers to a Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl appearance while amassing 9,518 passing yards, 64 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions over 40 regular season games.
The deal includes a $40 million signing bonus, a 2026 option bonus of $37.75 million, and a 2026 base salary of $8.296 million, all fully guaranteed. His 2025 base salary is set at $1.1 million.
Purdy’s extension positions him as the seventh-highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, with an average annual salary of $53 million. The contract also includes a full no-trade clause, reflecting the 49ers’ commitment to him as their franchise quarterback.
Despite a challenging 2024 season plagued by team injuries, during which the 49ers finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs, Purdy’s early career success and potential warranted the substantial contract commitment by the 49ers.
Rather than opting for a grand celebration, Purdy chose a quiet, intimate gathering with his family to commemorate the contract extension. The understated celebration took place indoors, where he cut a themed cake with his loved ones, as revealed by his mother, Carrie Purdy, on social media.
With this extension, the 49ers have solidified their quarterback position for the foreseeable future, aiming to build upon Purdy’s early successes and return to playoff contention in the coming seasons.
