NHL Roundup: Ovechkin Reaches 20-Goal Mark in 20th Straight Season

Alex Ovechkin has achieved a remarkable milestone by scoring his 20th goal of the season, marking his 20th consecutive season with at least 20 goals. This feat places him alongside Gordie Howe, who accomplished the same in 22 straight seasons, as the only players in NHL history to achieve this consecutive 20-goal streak.

In the Washington Capitals’ 4-1 victory over the Nashville Predators, Ovechkin’s 20th goal was also his 873rd career goal, bringing him within 22 goals of breaking Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of 894 goals.

In other NHL action, the Boston Bruins ended their six-game losing streak with a 4-3 overtime win against the Florida Panthers, thanks to David Pastrnak’s late goal. The Ottawa Senators dominated the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-0, and the New Jersey Devils took down the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-2 in overtime.

The Vancouver Canucks shut out the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-0, and the Minnesota Wild triumphed over the San Jose Sharks 3-1. The Dallas Stars extended their winning streak to seven games with a shootout victory against the Montreal Canadiens. The Columbus Blue Jackets secured a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Blues, while the Seattle Kraken came from behind to beat the Buffalo Sabres 6-2.

The Edmonton Oilers edged out the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3, and Connor Hellebuyck’s 22 saves secured the Winnipeg Jets’ 3-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche. The Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Anaheim Ducks 6-0.
